THE HAGUE-The audience gave roaring applause to the Chinese Spectacular Wednesday night for their final performance at The Hague World Forum Theatre before continuing on with their tour of Europe.
"This show was marvelous and it gave us a good idea of how many people are thinking in China," said Lina van Ruijven, mother and housewife from The Hague.
"I think it is with hope that we could see the show in Europe. And it is with hope that it will reach China," said Ruijven.
She explained that while watching the dance with dry ice, which looks like smoke, she began to dream about China. "I pray for the Chinese people that you will reach a good period of time," she said.
Ruijven talked about how she enjoyed the show. "It was perfect. The silk clothes, colors and all the movements you saw with the birds. It was marvelous,"
While she said she had never been to China, she was aware through the news media that China suppresses many of its people. "I think it is shown that a lot of people are suppressed—and we don't like that, you know."
Ruijven explained that she was told in Chinatown at The Hague that the ancient Chinese dance books are hidden today from China in the United States, and if the books were kept in China they would be burned. "I thank God that you could save them. I feel deep compassion with you."
"I think you are deep nice people and your culture is beautiful and that's why we enjoy it and learn from you" she added.
