THE HAGUE, Netherlands—Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular closed its curtains to a happy Dutch audience at The Hague World Forum Theatre Wednesday evening.

“I enjoyed watching it very much. All the ideas and thoughts behind the performances were quite surprising to me. I had never before spent any time on those things, but I thought it was interesting,” said Erwin Diets, a contract negotiator.

“It was definitely an experience with a different culture. It has certainly increased my interest in this kind of things.”

Diets remarked that “The Risen Lotus Flower” caught his attention: “The act that I remember best was the one with the ladies in prison. The story behind that performance was very clear—I could understand that well.”

Mr. Mingel, a former representative for The Dutch Antilles remarked, “The show was sublime. It has something that one rarely gets to see.”

“I didn’t know there are so many possibilities with dancing. It was really worth coming.”

“Also, the backgrounds and the lighting were really, really fantastic. Through the dancing, they try to express harmony and beauty. I think it’s really very well done,” he said. Ms. Lim, a retired teacher, enjoyed the inner meaning of the pieces in the Chinese Spectacular. “I think the show is very good, it’s really exceptional,” she said.

“I particularly like the fact that some of the dances also have a meaning in them—they depict a story,” she said. “I find aspects from Buddhism in the dances. There’s also some meaning about how one should behave in life—that’s something that talks very much to me.”
