THE HAGUE—The opening of the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular in the Netherlands on Tuesday drew praise from the audience who was impressed with the show’s authentic portrayal of Chinese culture.

Accountant Vashta Hamitulakad and her friend Uriche Fonembert, a nurse, said they thoroughly enjoyed Tuesday’s show.

“When the performers made live music as well, with the drums… I really loved it, it was great,” said Fonembert.

She particularly enjoyed the large-scale dances.

“There were more on the stage, more present. And besides that, I really loved the costumes and the dancing, and the ballet and everything. And the music was, really, really beautiful,” she said.

“It was all great,” said her friend Vashta, adding that she especially enjoyed the last performance.

“The last show, with the child, that was very nice. She was so good, the little girl, so it was very good,” she said.

“It was great, really great,” said violinist Pei Pei, from The Hague, who also attended Tuesday’s show. She said she was surprised by China’s cultural diversity. “Every region has different kinds of dance, and different stories. It's very diverse”.

She especially liked the dancing, “because it was personal…I liked most of the dances. I liked the tea dance [Mongolian Bowl Dance].”
