THE HAGUE—The first Divine Performing Arts show in Holland was well-received on Tuesday night.

Indonesian Chinese Jeanne Jsdevreede felt that the Shen Yun Chinese Spectacular connected her with Chinese traditional culture. Ms. Jsdevreede's family immigrated to The Hague in 1977 from Indonesia, but her grandfather was from China.

Ms. Jsdevreede said she loved the entire show, every detail of it, and was amazed to see how well-synchronized the performers were. The show, she said, was "very, very beautiful."

She particularly liked the little girl in the dancing drama, "Power of Awareness."

"I don't know why I like her so much," she said. "Her performance just touched my heart."

Her husband, a Dutchman, said he loved the projected backdrops of the show, especially the scene in the dance, "The Loyalty of Yue Fei," with blazing flames on top of the beacon towers.

Retired university economics teacher Jean Louis Janssen, from near Amsterdam, also enjoyed the show and said that he would recommend it.

"Wonderful, we enjoyed it very much—very glad to see it," he said.

He particularly enjoyed the fan dancing. "The dress was wonderful," he said and the music was "so very nice … It didn't sound typically Chinese, there was some mix from Europe."

Mr. Janssen has never been in China although he had tried. "We had out tickets bought but my wife had an accident and we couldn't go," he said.

He said they were friends with many Chinese people who were born in Indonesia.

"I like the East," he said.
