THE HAGUE—Tuesday night's Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular was met with great appreciation from the Dutch audience.

Esther, a law student, from the Netherlands said "It's very good, yes."

"I liked, first the water dance, with the fans and the water—it impersonates the water [ the Nymphs of the Sea ]. And I liked the Mongolian [Bowl] Dance. And I also loved the Chinese violin [erhu]. It was very, very beautiful."

This was Esther's first time seeing Divine Performing Arts, though she's no stranger to Chinese performance. "I have been to China and saw a lot of Chinese Opera and also Chinese performances. But this was much more… I don't know… it was beautiful, very beautiful. And of course the Falun Gong thing is new."

When asked her opinion of the two pieces depicting the persecution of Falun Gong, Esther went on, "Yeah I think it's good, it gets attention, and of course I totally don't agree with how the Chinese government treats them. So I think it's good that this is like a peaceful way to show the world and introduce them with the Falun Gong, it's like a peaceful protest."
