THE HAGUE, Netherlands—Radio and television star Wieteke van Dort says she likes the Chinese Spectacular "very, very much," after attending the first performance in the Netherlands on Tuesday.
"It's really beautiful, and so, so perfect," she said.
Ms. van Dort had high praise for the show.
"All the movements and musicians—it's really the most perfect show I've seen in years. It's really fantastic." Ms. van Dort said that the show is "beautiful".
"I can really feel the spiritual force of it, not only the music. Musical things have also a kind of vibration. But also the drums and the whole movement.
"Every movement has a certain meaning, like in Tai Chi and with dance … so there is a lot going on in the performance.
"I am sure if people can see more than the bodies that they will see an aura of what happens. And also between the audience and the people performing—I mean, the public in The Hague are very shy—I think, some things happened and I felt like 'whoa!'"
Ms. van Dort was at a loss to determine her favorite performance.
"From the whole show?" she asked. "Well, it's very difficult to choose."
She said she thought 'Nymphs of the Sea' was "beautiful and perfect".
"But I liked the dances of the men and the women, and how they can move so on the stage—brrr—like that," she exclaimed.
"And the drums in the end … building up—the tension. It's wonderful!"
Her husband Walter was equally pleased. "It was very impressive. And there were these wide skirts. The tea thing [Mongolian Bowl Dance] was very impressive. Yeah, it was very nice.
"Most things … everything was very impressive. Like I said, the drummers—and then you see the bright colors—the movements are so complete, so perfectly done. It's unbelievable!"
He also found it hard to pick a favorite performance.
"It's too hard to say so quickly. But, just straight away, the favorite, there were such beautiful [scenes]." He said he would recommend the show to family and friends.
"Oh, I could imagine people, especially with Chinese backgrounds, would love to see a thing like this."
Ms. van Dort had best wishes for the performers in the show. "Tell all the actors, singers, musicians, that it's really beautiful."
