DIUSBURG, Germany—The German opening of the Divine Performing Arts Shen Yun Chinese Spectacular in Duisberg on Wednesday enchanted the audience with its unique portrayal of Chinese culture drawn from the Middle Kingdom's 5,000-year history.

The New York Based Divine Performing Arts bills the Spectacular as a revival of the true Chinese culture, untainted by European communism.

"The absence of Communist culture is quite noticeable. I am enchanted by the show, something unique," Johannes Schulz, a businessman from Hurth.

Schulz said the segments he liked best were portrayals of Falun Gong practitioners in a Chinese prison. One dance demonstrates the beating of three women inmates at the hands of her captors. One of them gains renewed courage through a vision.

Falun Gong is a meditation practice and spiritual discipline currently being brutally suppressed by the Chinese communist regime.

Werner Brudzinski, who also attended Wednesday's show, said he was impressed with the performance and liked everything. Several audience members have said they slept better after attending a Spectacular performance.

"People in China say that music heals."

Performed by Divine Performing Arts on Tour, the Shen Yun Chinese Spectacular will play three shows in Frankfurt before continuing on to Berlin and Hamburg. For other shows in the Divine Performing Arts world tour, please visit: www.shenyun.eu
