FRANKFURT—Anna Maria Engbarth has traveled the world but has never seen anything quite like the Shen Yun Chinese Spectacular.
"It's wonderful," she said. "I was very much impressed. I even had tears in my eyes. It touched right away my heart, believe me. Very, very wonderful."
The Spectacular is currently playing a two-day run at Frankfurt's Jarhunderhalle (Century Hall). Engbarth attended the Sunday matinee.
Engbarth said she was impressed by many of the acts in the show, including one that depicts a contemporary tragedy in China: the persecution of Falun Gong, now in its ninth year. "I liked very much the mother with the child when they're trying to capture her and the whole group stood against them and helped her. And then the water nymphs [Nymphs of the Sea] also. I mean everything was wonderful, it was just a wonderful afternoon."
Engbarth, a retired travel agent, said a friend had advised her to go to the show, saying it was unique.
"The whole regime was different and this was one of the reasons why I wanted to see it. [A friend] said you should really go and see it. I said I have seen similar like this all over. He said no it is different, it really touches your heart, go and see it."
Performed by Divine Performing Arts on Tour, the Shen Yun Chinese Spectacular will play three shows in Frankfurt before continuing on to Berlin and Hamburg. For other shows in the Divine Performing Arts world tour, please visit: www.shenyun.eu
