FRANKFURT—"I must admit that I found it, seen from the artistic and aesthetic viewpoint very sophisticated and of superior quality," said Barbara Hoffmann, who took in the Sunday matinee of the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular at Frankfurt's Jarhunderhalle (Century Hall).
"In the Chinese Spectacular a very interesting connection is being made between the modern and traditional. It is a very successful potpourri," she said.
Hoffmann, a public relations specialist, said the show was a cultural event which also touched upon some human rights issues in today's China.
"I find this in connection with China to be very important. I also see that there is a connection to the Olympic Games. All the artists are forbidden to set foot on Chinese territory."
"[The Spectacular ] sets out to bring another atmosphere to the world, as well as another image of China," she continued. "With this tour, another image of China is presented and, on the other hand, at the same time the Falun Gong issue and human rights will be shown to the public."
Falun Gong is a meditation practice and spiritual discipline currently being brutally suppressed by the Chinese communist regime.
Performed by Divine Performing Arts on Tour, the Shen Yun Chinese Spectacular will play three shows in Frankfurt before continuing on to Berlin and Hamburg. For other shows in the Divine Performing Arts world tour, please visit: www.shenyun.eu
