FRANKFURT—The Frankfurt Jahrhunderthalle came alive with the sights and sounds of ancient China on Saturday with the opening to a full house of the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular.
Hubertus Zinke, former chief executive officer of the corporation ABB, who attended the Spectacular with his wife, Irene, was impressed with the show. He said he last visited China 10 years ago.
"The performance is very impressive. We are familiar with Chinese dancing from mainland China and friends of ours presented us with Chinese music," said Zinke. "Here they provided an insight into an unknown culture."
While the Spectacular has toured Europe before, this is the first time the full orchestra has accompanied the show.
"Colorful, cheerful, inspirational, impressive," said journalist Peter Freitag, who attended the show, adding that the state-of-the-art backdrops would "awaken a few memories in Germany."
He especially liked the dance piece called 'The Fruits of Goodness'.
"That was absolutely interesting, because here one can finally see this new culture as well. I believe that the artists have performed this quite well."
Performed by Divine Performing Arts on Tour, the Chinese Spectacular will play three shows in Frankfurt before continuing to Berlin and Hamburg. For other shows in the Divine Performing Arts world tour, please visit: www.shenyun.eu
