FRANKFURT—Ms. Beate Koeth, a personal accountant, said of the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular, "It's a great show with great music—such powerful music—and very nice colors in the show."

"I like it," she added, "I liked it because you get a little bit more background [about Chinese culture]." Ms. Koeth's favorite act was the "water fairies" [Nymphs of the Sea].

Elizabeth Kontz, a mother from Rotalban, said she came specifically to see the show. She had previously worked in promotions for a national German company, and now spends her time in "family management."

She said, "A friend showed me the newspaper with the pictures from the show and I thought I must see it."

Ms. Kontz remarked, "The pictures were good but you must see it live. You must feel it—the music and the colors of the show—you must see it live!"

Her favorite parts of the show were the drums and the water nymphs. She went on to say, "I know the country [China] from books and from newspapers and the show completes the picture."

"Everyone who wants to can learn something from people from another country."
