FRANKFURT—When Sabine Recker was asked what she thought of Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular, she exclaimed, "Well I think the Chinese would say hen hao! [meaning 'very good!']."

"We liked it a lot, it's very nice. Beautiful dances, beautiful [backdrop], beautiful clothes, and it's great to see a great variety of the different regions of China, like Tibet."

Sabine and her friend Helga Romph had come together to see the show together in Frankfurt on Saturday night.

Helga said "Oh, great, it's very spectacular, it is. Very many colors, and very nice music."

They both understood that the show depicted legends and stories from ancient China, portrayed through classical Chinese dance.

"I liked very much the second [act]," said Helga, "where there were the waves ['Nymphs of the Sea'], and then the Tibetan, the long sleeves, I liked very much ['Snowy Mountain, White Lotus']… The performances are so very well done, so you can understand the sense."

Sabine added, "I liked most the Mongolian tea dance, very nice, and very impressive that they could keep them on their head through the dancing."

"It's quite understandable for Germans, and it's nice to have the translations at the back wall, and to follow the story, to follow the singing. It's very good," she said.

Helga concluded, "I like the Chinese philosophy, too."
