DUISBURG—“It was very impressive this evening. And quite current, if I think about the political background: Tibet – when the German Chancellor received the Dalai Lama, the effect this had. One can be sad about it or even smile. It is about basic values, honesty and truthfulness. One saying shaped my life: Nothing is more true than the truth. It takes lots of courage to persevere this,” said Georg Bonerz, after he had watched half of the Divine Performing Arts Spectacular in Duisburg. He is a manager of a retirement and nursing home in Duisburg.
“I do believe that if one sets an example for people that these values are even respected in today’s society. I am optimistic that if one sets an example at work or even in one’s private life, one will notice that it is familiar to other people as well. I am surprised that now even Europeans start to think about it: What’s going on with my religion, where do I turn? Some of the philosophical issues that were the topics on the stage here have inspired me to try to think about the Chinese philosophy.” Mr. and Mrs. Bonerz had participated in a lottery drawing for tickets to the Divine Performing Arts Spectacular and they won. “If the show comes back next year, I most certainly will come see it again. My wife and I did not know what to expect this evening, but it is an enjoyable blending: To see the culture and to think about everything that is associated with it.”
He summarizes his impressions: "We are glad that we are here this evening. It brings us new thoughts with regard to what is happening at this time with the Olympics or the world economy. I find it good that the people who do not live in China now still can have hope. This show lets me be aware that one should never give up hope.”
