DUISBURG, Germany—Mr. Kawelke says he enjoyed every aspect of the Chinese Spectacular Thursday in Duisburg. “The costumes and the whole shebang are absolutely fantastic, very beautiful,” said Mr. Kawelke, a master mechanic.
His wife, a nurse, also enjoyed the performance. “I agree. Some scenes were so beautiful, just like they are not from this world,” she said.
In the piece “The Risen Lotus Flower,” Mr. Kawelke found “the scene with the three women in prison and when she was accompanied upwards by the angels” interesting. In the piece, three women are attacked by prison guards because they practice Falun Gong.
Mr. Kawelke also liked the piece “The Loyalty of Yue Fei.” “The young man who could not decide between the army—the defense of his fatherland—and his mother. That was very beautiful as well, one has to ponder about that one too.” His wife added, “This is not only for watching.”
