DUISBURG, Germany—Carmen Thomas, a television host at West German Radio (WDR) until 2006, is also known as the first lady of female television sports coverage. She attended the Feb. 14 performance of the Chinese Spectacular at Duisburg’s Theater am Marientor.

Ms. Thomas said she was “amazed by the gracefulness of the ladies and gentlemen [performers]. The costumes and rich colors were also quite charming. I also was quite taken by the unbelievable discipline, as well as the loving and charming demeanor of the performers. I am interested to hear about the inner content of the performance.”

She continued, “I had a marvelous time this evening, was quite interested in all I saw and found everything fascinating.”

The communications expert, who opened her own television hosting school, was especially taken by the dances. “I was impressed with the dances, the choreography, and the perfection. It was truly wonderful. What expression and grace was shown by the dancers!”

Ms. Thomas also commented about the demureness of the female dancers, “I … found a clear distinction between the opposite roles that was amazingly graceful.”

The performance gave Ms. Thomas much to think about what is happening in today’s China. She said it intrigued her, and that she wants to find out about the real China of the past.

Editor’s note: The interview with Ms. Carmen Thomas was a collaborative effort between New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV) and The Epoch Times.
