DUISBURG—"We loved it tremendously, very beautiful," said Eva Maria Schoofs-Kentner, in praise of the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular which played in Duisburg, Germany, on Wednesday night.
A Chinese friend invited the famous French painter from Wuppertal to see the Spectacular. Schoofs-Kentner's eye skillfully picked up "so many beautiful details throughout the show, such as the drums."
The depth of the performances impressed and surprised her. "This reaches into another dimension because it is connected to belief. This definitely is a show for which the word "Show" is just not enough."
"I imagined it would be more like a circus and just couldn't imagine what to expect," said Schoofs-Kentner. Therefore, she was pleasantly surprised by the Spectacular.
"This performance is on a level that is just wonderful. This has to do with a fundamental culture, which we do not have here in Europe. This is what I refer to as 'other dimensional.'"
She said that she admired Asian culture and had traveled to China, Japan and Nepal. Her friend, who accompanied her to the Spectacular, agreed. "We were completely surprised! And we were also touched."
Schoofs-Kentner admired the colorful backdrops, inspired by Chinese paintings of old.
"It was a more than a wonderful evening! There was an energy that cannot be described in words …" she said.
The Chinese Spectacular runs February 13 and 14 in Duisburg, Germany.
