DUISBURG, Germany—Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular on tour opened at the Theater am Marientor, in Duisburg, Germany, on Wednesday evening. During intermission audience members shared their impressions with The Epoch Times.
At first, Andrea Wagner had trouble putting her ideas about the show into words and to sort through all her thoughts. Yet, one thing made an impression on her: "After this show, I finally understood how large China really is, how many different regions there are, and how little I really know about it."
Andrea is a fashion designer, goldsmith, and teacher. She learned about the show during a conversation with a friendly Chinese woman in the subway. Later, Wagner looked up details on the Internet. "I thought it would be very tempting to learn more about Chinese culture without being influenced by the Chinese [Communist] Party. I thought this was exciting and interesting. I was richly rewarded by the two female singers singing their songs."
'Very good, very beautiful'
"Very good, very beautiful" Vivian Weidner, a student, and her sister, Jennifer Weidner, a job trainee, exclaimed at the same time. They were very happy about the opportunity to learn about the spirit of ancient China and thought it was very interesting.
"I especially enjoyed the Mongolian bowl dance," commented Vivian, the younger of the two sisters. "Just think about it, if you were to put a bowl on your head, it would certainly fall down. I also liked the drum dance a lot." Jennifer appreciated how varied the program was because it included dance, songs, as well as musical numbers.
"I liked the dance numbers about the persecution of Falun Gong in China. It gave me some insights about how people might be feeling in China." Jennifer had never before heard about it. "I think the dances will help us support human rights in China. This message certainly comes across."
