TOKYO—Several executives along with over 20 members of the Overseas Chinese Association attended the opening night of the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular Tuesday evening at Tokyo Kosei Nenkin Kaikan.
"I've seldom watched such a good performance about the 5,000 years of Chinese culture," said Ms. Zhan Shuling, wife of the President of the association, who also attended the show.
"The spirit of traditional Chinese culture is good. We had many examples of loyalty such as Yue Fei in ancient China," she said.
"I think they are really what we should widely spread. Through the arts like Chinese Spectacular, our traditional culture will become widely known. I think it's very good."
Zhan, who operates a restaurant in Tokyo, feels that much of Japanese culture actually originates from China and is preserved in spirit by the Japanese people who express it in their own culture.
"So we should better preserve, cherish, and glorify our own culture. I really think that it is extremely great to promote our traditional culture through these kinds of cultural activities." Ms. Lin Cheng, Vice President of the Tokyo Women's Association, was equally impressed with the Spectacular.
"Divine Performing Arts conveys the essence of traditional Chinese culture. It makes people understand the truth, makes it known to our Chinese people, and helps people discover their true selves."
"It's Chinese history. The songs are very touching. They tell us to look for our true selves," she said.
