TOKYO—After the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular opening show at Wel Hotels-Resorts ended with success on the evening of Feb. 12, some audience members gathered in the lobby, wishing for more.
In the lobby, a retired Toukai University professor Mr. Saito Syouzo enthusiastically expressed his wish: "Such a good Divine Performing Arts show, it would be nice if it could come twice a year."
He said after he learned about the show from a Chinese friend whom he cared for at one time. "I have taken care of many Chinese people in the last 20 years. They are from Tibet, Inner Mongolia, and Mainland China. Once there were as many as four students studying abroad living in my house. I even helped taking care of their children after they got married."
Saito, who has been retired for two years now, used to study and teach victims of persecution. He said, "The Chinese Communist Party's persecution of Tibet, Inner Mongolia, and Falun Gong is very repulsive to me—it is unacceptable. People should be able to live freely, and should not suffer persecution from tyranny."
He referred to the peaceful response of the spiritual group Falun Gong, depicted in the show. Saito said with some emotion, "After watching this evening show, a strong wish has arisen from my heart." He said he wished that awareness about Falun Gong's persecution "should be strengthened."
