TOKYO—As the Chinese Spectacular continues its run in Tokyo, Dennis N.O. Awori, Kenyan Ambassador to Japan, brought his wife and the three children to Tuesday's show. "Look, I brought all of my family to the Spectacular " said Mr. Awori cheerfully upon arriving at the theatre. "I did learn much about the true Chinese culture," said Awori after the show. "This is the first time I've seen a show like this, it's very interesting and touching. The costumes, music and backdrops are very beautiful." A few weeks earlier, Awori had heard about the Spectacular at his office as he decided to attend the show to find more about traditional Chinese culture.
"China is a very big country with a very long history of 5,000 years, and I feel appreciative to have the opportunity to sample and learn the culture of the Chinese people." Awori said that in today's fast-paced world, technology and material things often take priority over spirituality.
"Spirituality and traditional things are important, but people somehow forget it when they're chasing profits for themselves." Awori said the "The Power of Awareness" was the most touching performance in the Spectacular. The act depicts the brutal suppression of Falun Gong practitioners in China. "I believe it sends the message for the Chinese Communist Party to be more open."
