NEW YORK-Audience members at last nights Divine Performing Arts Chinese New Year Splendor in New York praised the show for it's emphasis on traditional Chinese culture.
James Ching-Nan Chang, director of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York, said Diving Performing Arts performance got more successful each year.
"The programs are more and more refined every year. The drums are very powerful. I like the way you pick Tang dynasty as the key theme. Tang Dynasty is the peak of Chinese culture. It has the best of everything. It has the best poetry, clothes, music, in every aspect, it is the best. That you use Tang Dynasty as the cultural setting for it is really good."
Christine Kung, a volunteer with Women Federation for World Peace, expressed how beautiful the show was.
"I found it inspiring and so interesting. This was an incredible artistic performance and everyone in the world should see it. It can help everyone to become more peaceful and truthful."
Amy Wissner, who works in the insurance industry and her friend Alice Hardson who works in the internet industry, were happy to share their experience of the Chinese New Year Splendor.
Wissner: "Overall the show was wonderful. I liked it."
Hardson: "The prison scene was good. All the story ideas came through clearly. The temple tale was very good."
Wissner: "The costumes are lovely, really." Wissner said she also like the songs.
"I was surprised by the words. So bold. The voice was beautiful."
Hardson: "The female host was so pretty and engaging. I almost want to hear her all the time.
Wissner: "I liked the traditional instruments in it." Both said they would recommended the show to friends.
The Splendor continues in New York until February 9 with a run of fifteen shows. It then continues its global tour through Europe, Asia and Australia. The Splendor will return to North America for shows in Canada and the U.S. next spring.
