NEW YORK—Showcasing authentic traditional Chinese culture through music and dance, Divine Performing Arts' Chinese New Year Splendor continues to charm audiences during its 15-show run at New York's Radio City Music Hall. "Lovely! I want to be Chinese! Love the culture, love the show! My favourite was the ribbon dancers [Water Sleeves]," said retired hairdresser Pinky Duncan, originally from Jamaica, who moved to New York 60 years ago.

Her cousin, Linda, thought the erhu, a two-stringed instrument known for its haunting sound and wide range of notes, was excellent. She was also impressed with many aspects of the Splendor .

"I loved the backdrops. The moving water was the best, and the entertainment aspect was great"

Dolores and Michael Sebok, from New Jersey, both retired, also said they enjoyed the show.

"So effortless! When they move, it's like they are on clouds, like they are weightless," said Dolores. "I never heard Chinese singers before, they were amazing."

"I liked the subtitles, so we know what is going on."

Michael was impressed with the dancers. "The movements were very graceful, there was a certain sort of dignity about the dancing."

"It's a softer mode of dance versus the sort of pounding we are used to," added Dolores.

Divine Performing Arts has been spearheading a renaissance of Chinese traditional culture that has drawn the attention and admiration of audiences around the world.

The performance company's ambitious world tour includes 220 shows in over 60 cities, reaching a total live audience of about 650,000. The tour will span four continents — Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America.

The Chinese New Year Splendor continues in New York through Saturday, Feb. 9. For other shows in the Divine Performing Arts world tour, please visit: www.DivinePerformingArts.org . The Epoch Times is a proud sponsor of the Chinese New Year Splendor.
