NEW YORK—The Divine Performing Arts dance company put on an impressive display said a pharmacist who attended the Chinese New Year Splendor at Radio City Music Hall in New York City last night.
"The show was great! The movements, the music and the dances were all really good," said Washington County pharmacist Lisa Ferrel.
Ferrel said a friend who 'goes to a lot of shows' had recommended the Splendor to her and her husband. Ferrel was grateful they did.
"The show was exciting! The dancing, the singing, the orchestra, the costumes, and the choreography were all very beautiful," she said.
Her favorite part of the program was the "Water Sleeves" performance, which she said was "really good."
"Compared to other [Broadway] musical productions, this one had more dancing, which made it really interesting. It was excellent."
The Chinese New Year is a 15-day holiday that begins with the Lunar New Year, a day for welcoming and paying tribute to the deities of heaven and earth. It is also a holiday of family reunions.
Unlike Westerners who count their date of birth as their birthday, Chinese people traditionally celebrate the seventh day of the New Year as the day they all become one year older.
Divine Performing Arts says that in its productions it strives to revive the authentic traditional arts and culture of China in which moral values and spiritual pursuits are highly emphasized.
Many attendees to the Splendor say that coming to the show has become one of the ways they celebrate the Chinese New Year.
Divine Performing Arts will play 15 shows in New York, before continuing on its international tour through Europe, Asia and Australia.
The Chinese New Year Splendor continues in New York through Saturday, Feb. 9. For other shows in the Divine Performing Arts world tour, please visit: www.DivinePerformingArts.org . The Epoch Times is a proud sponsor of the Chinese New Year Splendor.
