NEW YORK-A new era of traditional Chinese culture began with the opening of the Divine Performing Arts Chinese New Year Splendor at Radio City Music hall on Wednesday night, capturing the hearts of all ages.
"I brought my family to come see the show, we all thought it was such a wonderful experience," said Victor Ibertti, who attended the Splendor with his wife, Manisol, and their son, Italo.
"The beginning was very beautiful, and I really liked the 'Nymphs of the Sea' dance," said Italo, adding that he recently saw the world class, Cirqu de Soleil, but preferred the Splendor.
"It [Cirqu de Soleil] was nothing like this, the Chinese Splendor is a lot better. What made it better was all the dancing, colors, music, and the message."
Victor's favourite was the drumming. "I especially liked the drumming, it was brilliant!"
Originally from Chile, the Ibertti family now lives in New York. Pablo and Susana Zurita, close friends of the Ibertti's, joined them in attending the Chinese Splendor.
"What really made this show stand out from the rest were all the bright colors and the dancing," Susana said. She found the raindrops on the backdrop so real it resonated with her love of water.
"This show was just so powerful," said Susana, She is really fond of water and liked.
"It is amazing to me how much they really express themselves with their dancing. This show is truly something else—absolutely a very nice show."
Pablo, an architect, loved the opening scene where he could appreciate the design work and the backdrops.
"I would love to do some research on the architecture in the show. Chinese culture is such a wonderful expression of life, the moral values, the long history of Masters and searching for enlightenment—it's what life is about, right? Just simply amazing!"
The mission of the New York-based Divine Performing Arts is to restore China's traditional culture through music and dance along with the moral values that once flourished across the nation.
"No matter if it's from China, India, or anywhere else, we have to protect our planet since there is only one universe. We are all here living together and if you want to truly touch someone it should be filled with love and beauty. I really feel that this show really expressed that very deeply," Pablo said.
The The Chinese New Year Splendor continues in New York through Saturday, Feb. 9. For other shows in the Divine Performing Arts world tour, please visit: www.DivinePerformingArts.org . The Epoch Times is a proud sponsor of the Chinese New Year Splendor.
