During the second performance of the Chinese New Year Spectacular in Atlanta, Georgia, members of the audience laughed and clapped, sometimes in the middle of a piece. Some wiped their eyes.
"I was very pleased with it. I was very impressed with the soprano," said Ron Cioffi, owner of a graphics design firm in Johns Creek. "Just lovely."
So far it's been great", said marketing professional Kathryn Martinez during intermission. "It's been fantastic so far," echoed her companion Danh Huyh.
The show was "Stupendous, marvelous," according to Stacy Eng. "I liked the Mongolian bowl dance."
Rhonda Ballard of Gainesville, Georgia brought her daughters, Lindsay and Kelli Ann. "I thought it was great. I really thought it was good for them to see their birth culture." Lindsay, 8, was adopted from Jianxi Province, and Kelli Ann, 4, was adopted from Guangdong Province. "The adoption world talks about the red thread, predestined relationship" said Ballard. "I always wanted to adopt children from China."

Attorney Katherine Durant "Loved the show, loved the drums, loved those long scarfy things. Loved the water sleeves. Loved that violiny thing, the erhu. The tenor blew my socks off. That ...lady (the erhu player) of the musicians, she was the best. I liked the one where the two teenagers did good deeds and were transformed."
Retired IT professional Tom Carr said "I liked it. I don't have favorites. I don't believe in favorites any more. It's like having a favorite color. If they were all that color it wouldn't be your favorite any more."
"Unbelievable athleticism and grace," added Durant.
People lingered in the lobby long after the last curtain, talking intently in pairs and small groups.
