CHICAGO—Kermit Williams, a self employed independent producer, smiles saying, "This is the second time I have seen this show and I plan to come every year from now on." He is speaking of the Chinese New Year Spectacular, which he saw at the Arie Crown Theater on January 25 in Chicago.
Seeing the poster in a Chicago CTA train station, he got excited and ordered tickets right away. He remembered the performances by the Divine Performing Arts Company last year and looked forward eagerly to the show this year.
His background in theater allowed him to comment in great detail about the back drops and projected effects: "The use of lighting technology is fascinating especially during the transcending scenes when the people move from the stage and then up into to the heavens; it is so beautifully done. The performers create a setting in which the performance is being held and it is just one of my favorite parts!"
Mr. Williams was looking forward to a favorite Performance—the Ladies of the Manchu Court. "I love the gracefulness and the way they glide in those super high-heeled special shoes."
Mr. Williams wants friends to see the show. The light of joy in his eyes gives the reason.
