CHICAGO—The Chinese New Year Spectacular filled Chicago's Arie Crown Theater with the enchanting sights and sounds of 5000 years of ancient Chinese culture on Saturday evening. The graceful, elegant dancers, exquisitely colored costumes, and resounding Mongolian drums captured the attention of the delighted audience.

"Mesmerizing!" said Mary Beth, a legal secretary from Chicago, "The music and the movements all go together so nicely, it just flows so nicely, it is almost meditative."

Jonanthan Ospina, Kenny Pacheco, and Missa Giron, three friends from Wheeling, IL, were all touched by the splendor of the show.

"Spectacular, it is just spectacular!" Giron commented, "It opens your horizons, it's something that you just don't get to experience on a regular basis. I thought it was just a regular dance show, but, I mean, it goes beyond just the dancing, they explain a little bit of the culture, and it gives you a little bit of understanding, a little bit more depth of what [the culture] really is."

Pacheco was thoroughly impressed with the show, and especially how calm he felt while watching. "The show was very relaxing," he added.

Linda Ehlers, a chiropractor from the Hickory Hills area in Chicago was ecstatic about having the opportunity to experience the best of Chinese culture, "I think it's just amazing to watch another culture.

"I am from the south side of Chicago, and this is just a real treat to get an opportunity to see something I probably never ever would see." Ehlers was particularly impressed by the hosts of the show, Zhou Mei and Leeshai Lemish. "The two hosts, the gentleman and the lady are just doing a great job. They're delightful and they are funny, and they are introducing this quite well."
