SAN FRANCISCO—NTDTV's Chinese New Year Spectacular , presenting its third day of performances on Friday, Jan. 25, attracted a variety of audience members who came for many different reasons.

When a party of two women and one child were asked the reason they came to the show, one of the women answered, "Why did we come? Well, Ming is Chinese."

During intermission, Jill Davidson, a teacher from Palo Alto, told us that she read about the show in the newspaper. She immediately contacted Peggy Jane, the mother of one of her students, about it. Ming is the name of Peggy's daughter, and she is an adopted Chinese girl who is now six years old. Both teacher and mother thought that it would be a good idea to bring the little girl to cultural events that would help her to learn more about the country she come from. They agreed that this show was a "wonderful example of traditional culture" and national heritage.

"I mostly like the music, because the style was different—in a good way," said Davidson. "It's cultural and entertaining. It's really an opportunity to learn about a different culture and its artistic style. The words and the music in the songs are very different from what we are used to listening to, and it's very unique and cultural."

Both women thought that they would want to come again next year and that it would be a pity not to recommend more people to attend it. Jill added, "I would say that this is a stimulating learning experience that shouldn't be missed."
