SAN FRANCISCO—The Diving Performing Arts performed their final Chinese New Year Spectacular performance in San Francisco to a packed house at the Orpheum Theatre on Saturday night.
Mary Lu Fernandez, a retired nurse, stood outside the theater trying to stay dry while waiting for a taxi with her granddaughter after the show. She looked full of life and beamed with happiness.
Fernandez is from Texas, and was visiting her daughter and granddaughter in San Francisco. She was very grateful that her daughter bought her and her granddaughter tickets to the Spectacular and was amazed by the beauty and grace of the dancers.
She said: "I liked all of it! The girls were just so beautiful and graceful and the singers were just fantastic, and all of the performances were just excellent."
When Fernandez was told that the Spectacular will tour through Texas next year, she shared that she was very sick, and worried that she may not live another year. But she stated, "If I am here, I sure will come."
The Spectacular deeply touched Fernandez's heart, and you could see in her eyes that the show left her feeling very content.
Fernandez stated, "This was something new to me, and I thought it was just fantastic. I will never forget it, and that's for sure!"
For now, the Divine Performing Arts Company is headed back to New York City's Radio City Music Hall for the grand Chinese New Year Splendor (Jan. 30 – Feb. 9).
