SAN FRANCISCO—Divine Performing Arts Chinese New Year Spectacular delighted a sold out crowd at the Orpheum Theatre for its last two shows on Jan. 26 in San Francisco. Bay Area residents from all walks of life came to the shows and shared their impressions of the Spectacular.
Sally Reed, a retired airline employee from Millbrae spoke at the intermission.
"I think the show is beautiful! The colors of the costumes are fantastic. I loved that backdrop, it is just wonderful. I am really loving it!"
Sally heard about the show from her nephew and was very happy they decided to come.
A south bay resident, Jonathan Chang, is a 16 year old high school student from Cupertino who came to the matinee show.
He heard about the show from his family members and was glad he came.
"It is a really nice show! I liked how fluid it is and they are really technically sound."
Chang was particularly impressed with the fact that the age of the performers range between 10 to 70 years.
"I liked all the acts," he said.
"The first couple of acts were really cool and the second half was very nice. They put them all really well together."
Jonathan said he would come to see the Spectacular with his family for next year's Chinese New Year celebration.
The Mathur family came to the show today from Saratoga. Rakesh Mathur, an engineer, and his wife, Dipti, a scientist and their 4 year old daughter Ila, all were delighted with the show.
Ila said, "I loved the dances with the ladies wearing pink. Pink and purple are my favorite colors." Ila a dancer herself, goes to a ballet and gymnastics school, and at her young age had an appreciation for the dances, songs and costumes in the show.
