SAN FRANCISCO—The final show of the San Francisco stop of the Chinese New Year Spectacular was a full house, as was the afternoon show on Jan. 26.
"Love the drums. This is what I came to see. I love the colors. Something different. It met my expectations," commented Elmo Wedderburn, a Charles Schwab employee and San Francisco resident.
His favorite part of tonight's show was the opening scene.
"When they came out with the clouds it gave a great impression, so beautiful—it automatically set the show to the right direction."
In particular Wedderburn found the Masters of Ceremony commentary very helpful.
"It gives the story of what is going on, I love that part.
"When you watch an opera you really don't get to know what's going on, and this one really gives an illustration, a verbal illustration.
"[Each performance] is basically an abstract of a story. When you see an abstract painting you can see something behind it the artist is trying to convey whether it is of how strong the colors are or the texture—and this (show) has color and texture."
Starting Jan. 30, the NTDTV Chinese New Year Splendor will play for 15 shows at Radio City Music Hall in New York City before beginning its world tour.
