CHICAGO—The Divine Performing Arts company danced and sang in front of a virtually full house at the Arie Crown Theatre in their second of three performances in Chicago. The crowd was continuously entertained as the performers leapt, dove, and twirled across the stage, amazing audience members of all ages and ethnicities.

Dan Latreille, an attorney from Glenview, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, brought his three sons to experience the performance.

Latreille immediately became a fan of the show, which depicted traditional Chinese song and dance. "I thought the show was very enjoyable," he commented.

Latreille praised the visually engaging components of the show: "I liked the colorful costumes and the beautiful synchronized dancing. Very good."

He also enjoyed the heart-racing drum performances. Ancient Chinese myths say that the booming sound of the drum is supposed to ward off evil spirits and bring good fortune.

This was just one of the legends that the audience learned about throughout the show. "It was a good opportunity to learn something new about the culture," he said.

The two companies of the Divine Performing Arts, who are currently touring North America, will be reuniting in New York City for a performance at Radio City Music Hall Jan. 30–Feb. 9.
