SAN FRANCISCO—The highly acclaimed Chinese Spectacular dazzled a sold out Orpheum Theatre on its final day in the Bay Area. The heavy rains that had fallen on San Francisco the past week lifted as the crowd lined up outside the theatre for the Spectacular's last performances. The audience had high praise for the show.

Judy Rothenberg, a school psychologist from Los Gatos came to today's matinee show. This was the first Spectacular she had attended, and felt that it was "beautiful."

Rothenberg has a deep knowledge of dance, having been a dancer "thousands of years ago," took dance appreciation classes in college, and enjoyed going to the ballet.

Regarding the performances, she said, "The posture and bearing of the dancers are amazing to watch, and the acrobatics are incredible. I liked it in that the Western dances are always about doing more and more fancy acrobatics, while in these the acrobatics are used when they make sense in the story line."

She also liked that the explanations of what she was seeing was written in the background and could therefore follow along with the Chinese lyrics.

The Spectacular is unique among Chinese cultural shows performed throughout the world today. According to Divine Performing Arts, the dances convey the rich culture of China's 5,000 years history through a variety of performances including classical Chinese dance, singing, musical performances, and dramatic interpretations.

There are still more opportunities to see the show, but the last opportunity to see the show in San Francisco is tonight's 8:00 p.m. performance.

Then, starting on Jan. 30, the NTDTV Chinese New Year Splendor will play for 15 shows at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
