MINNEAPOLIS—Tonight, Minneapolis vibrated with the sounds of traditional Chinese drumming. Fresh off the road from a performance in Detroit on Tuesday, the Divine Performing Arts Company continued their tour of the Chinese New Year Spectacular tonight in Minnesota. And while several of the performances may have been notable to the audience, it was clear that the drums stole the show. When asked about her favorite performance, Iris Montgomery, a Conflict Specialist from Minneapolis said, "The drums and bowls. [referring to the Mongolian Bowl dance]"
She also mentioned that she found it interesting to" learn about different things" during the show. "I do like that they are showing it in different regions ... and what it means."
Ever so simply put, Linda Nichols an Engineer from Little Canada said, "I liked the drums," while Linda's son nodded in agreement.
Her male companion said, "I think the Tibetan dance, with the long sleeves, was my favorite." Chester Pepper from Maple Grove, Minnesota works in sales. He said, "I'd like to see more martial arts, but the drums were incredible."
He continued, "And we like the 'White Lotus' dance as well. The singers—the singers are amazing too. The second singer really had a lot of presence as well."
Leslie Dohm, who is a Corporate Trainer also from Maple Grove, added, "The costumes are amazing."
Following this Minneapolis performance, Diving Performing Arts will play three shows in Chicago on January 25 and 26. The Spectacular is also playing January 23-26 in San Francisco. See Bestchineseshows.com for details. The Epoch Times is a proud sponsor of the Chinese New Year Spectacular.
