Minneapolis VIPs Gather to Anticipate the 'Spectacular'

Scholars, politicans and musicians gathered at the reception room at the Northrop Memorial Auditorium in Minneapolis anticipating the Chinese New Year Spectacular for its one-stop show in Minnesota before heading to Chicago this weekend.

Mark McKenzi, Dean of Minnesota College of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine said, "I am looking forward to a show full of art and culture."

Dr. Alan Kagan, a professor at the University of Minnesota Music for 30 years added,"I asume I will see things that I am familar with but also the organization to surprise me." Dr. Kagaa researcher in Daoist and Buddhist ritual music said, "I play the erhu which is easy for a violinist." James Rocco, a producing artist director of Ordway, anticipated the show, saying "I am a huge fan of Asian culture but have never been to a "Chinese New Year Spectacular."

State Senator Mee Moua of Minnesota gave the performers(Divine Performing Arts) a "warm welcome" and added, "To have the celebration in Minnesota is wonderful for everyone in Minnesota so we can share in the culture and traditon in this increasingly global society and learn these cultural activities."

And the opening remarks by Guan Gumin said,"I believe music is a cure, a treatment. Beautiful music will make you feel good."
