DETROIT—Divine Performing Art's Chinese New Year Spectacular, a performance of traditional Chinese song and dance, enchanted audiences at Detroit Opera House last night.

Diane Moskaluk, a retired English teacher enjoyed the show. "I think it's excellent," she shared. "It is all very authentic Chinese dances and authentic Chinese music, and I am just enthralled by the whole thing.

"I think that it is a wonderful, good will gesture. It makes me feel a lot closer to the Chinese."

Stewart McMillin, a Detroit travel guide and Wayne State University Instructor explained that his understanding of Chinese culture had been enriched. "I have learned about the different regions ..., and also the different ethnic groups."

Choosing one special moment from the show was difficult, "Oh my, well they are all so good," said Moskaluk, "But I like the very last one we saw, when the men were dancing with the drums, I like the drums."

But there was even a deeper understanding for Moshkaluk, "What I have learned is it is just so compassionate, and they have the goodness of the Buddha, which I don't know much about, but I just think that it is just wonderfully compassionate."

"I just feel so warm and compassionate while watching."

Diana Ciofu is a professional house cleaner. She said, "I was extremely impressed with the costumes and the grace and the lifting up of higher values.

"It was just so refreshing for me. It was very well done, I am thrilled that I came here! I was impressed with the absolute beauty of the women, they were so graceful and slender. It was very delightful."

There are still plenty of opportunities to experience the magic of the Chinese New Year Spectacular. Following this Detroit performance, Diving Performing Arts will play one show in Minneapolis on January 24, and three more in Chicago on January 25 and 26. The Spectacular is also playing January 23-26 I San Francisco. See Bestchineseshows.com for details. The Epoch Times is a proud sponsor of the Chinese New Year Spectacular.
