On Tuesday, January 22, The Chinese New Year Spectacular made its Detroit debut, playing to a capacity audience at the Detroit Opera House. Ms. Sue Bryant had seen the Spectacular in Chicago and was so impressed with it that she made sure that five of her family members came to see the show when it came to Detroit.
Asked how she liked the show the second time, she said "Truly, truly beautiful—it just gets better and better. I'm so glad for this opportunity, to be able to bring my family to see this show. I plan to see it next year too!"
Ms. Bryant explained that her older daughter and son-in-law had been very disappointed to have missed the show in Chicago, but when told that it was finally coming to Detroit, they could hardly wait for January 22.
The whole family expressed how impressed they were with the entire caliber of the show.
Bryan Dulle from Detroit agreed, saying " I can't believe how well choreographed this show is. I think that this is a tremendous effort." But the audience learned from the show as well. Ms. Bryant said that she feels that she understood more about Chinese culture after watching the show.
Bryan Dulle added, "This show is absolutely fantastic and helps to promote and explain Chinese culture very well. I'm very impressed."
There are still plenty of opportunities to experience the magic of the Chinese New Year Spectacular. Following this Detroit performance, Diving Performing Arts will play one show in Minneapolis on January 24, and three more in Chicago on January 25 and 26. The Spectacular is also playing January 23-26 I San Francisco. See Bestchineseshows.com for details.
