My name is Lu Minghui. I am 10 years old and and I live in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. Right now I have no home, but can stay with an old lady, a Falun Gong practitioner, in a place far away from Harbin.

My Mom is being kept behind bars because she practices Falun Gong, and I have no idea where my Dad is.

My Mom didn't leave a deep impression on me and as far as I can remember, I had always lived with my father. Father called me Hui-hui, but I haven't heard him call me that for a long time.

When I was seven, father left home one morning and never came back. I stayed at home alone for the whole day. When darkness came, I fell asleep. Then the phone woke me up – ringing and ringing.

I cried out, "Daddy, the phone is ringing." But there was no answer. Again, I was woken by the phone and again I called out, "Daddy, the phone is ringing." No one responded.

At dawn, a friend of my father came to pick me up. I haven't seen my father since then. He left me overnight.

One day I saw a Falun Gong leaflet at the old lady's friend's house, which contained information about an uncle who was persecuted to death in a labor camp.

After returning to the home of the old lady, I asked her, "The name and age of the man in the leaflet are identical to those of my father. Could it be my father?"

She assured me, "Hui-hui, that is not your father."

"I don't trust what you say," I retorted.

Afterwards, the old lady asked me, "Hui-hui, what if that really was your father?"

Exactly, I thought, what could I do if that victim happened to be my Dad? How could I deal with it?

"Really, there is nothing I can do about it..." I told the old lady.

I miss father very much. He had gone somewhere, and left me behind without saying a word. Come back to my side, Daddy! You can't leave me alone!

Profile of Lu Minghui's Parents:

Lu Mengxin, Lu Minghui's father, born in 1963, was a lecturer at the Northeast Forestry University.

On October 10, 1999, he left for Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, but was arrested and detained in the Dongli Branch of Harbin Municipal Public Security Bureau.

Sixteen months later, he was sentenced to three years in prison by the court in Harbin's Dongli District.

On April 3, 2005, Lu Mengxin was re-arrested, and imprisoned at the Detention Center of Dongli. Then he was sentenced to two years in prison by the same court in Dongli.

Later the prison refused to accept Lu Mengxin as he had shown symptoms of tuberculosis. On February 27, 2006, Lu Mengxin was persecuted to death in the Wanjia Forced Labor Camp. Based on reliable sources, he died of multiple organ failure.

Xu Wenying, Lu Minghui's mother, is being imprisoned in the Harbin City Women's Prison. Because her father was persecuted to death and her mother is jailed, Lu Minghui has been adopted by a kind-hearted Falun Gong practitioner.
