Divine Performing Art's Chinese New Year Spectacular , a performance of traditional Chinese song and dance, burst upon the stage of the Las Vegas Hilton Theater tonight, enchanting Westerners and Easterners alike.
Las Vegas actor Howie Locke, who was invited by Eric Finger, a promoter of events for Harah, came because of his interest in Chinese traditional culture. "I've always been interested in traditional culture and was anxious to see the show," Locke said.
Judy Thorebourne, a reporter for the Las Vegas Tribune attended the show for similar reasons. "I love Chinese clothes and costumes," she said.
Locke who appreciated the traditional beauty of the show, said, "The show is just outstanding, just incredible. Everything about it is great. The colors, clothes, and the drummers are what I loved most."
Cathy Finger, a friend of Locke chimed in, "The show is so beautiful and elegant, so different from Western shows," where, she said, they always wear skimpy clothes and focus on lust.
The Chinese New Year Spectacular will move on to San Francisco from Jan. 23–26 after its one-night-only performance in Las Vegas.
