'I'm So Glad I Could Be Here,' Raves 93-Year-Old Woman

LOS ANGELES—Many Los Angeles residents looking forward to an uplifting and unique theatre experience spent their Sunday afternoon attending the final L.A. performance of the Chinese New Year Spectacular at the recently opened Nokia Theatre. The Chinese performance showcases traditional Chinese dance and music.

Ninety-three year old Mary Schiffer of Temecula was delighted by the show.

"It was really great all the way through, not over done, just really lovely," she emphasized, her sparkling blue eyes peering out of a smart looking hat.

"It was wonderful" Schiffer repeated, "I'm so glad I could be here."

Felipe Mumoc, who came with some of his friends, said that he was curious about Chinese culture and wanted to experience and learn more about it. He especially liked the drumming technique and the woman's water dance.

Nadya Telounts, an Armenian woman from Russia, expressed how much she is drawn to Asian civilizations and Chinese culture. "I think its great, the color, the dances, the costumes." She especially appreciated, 'Lady from the Moon' and 'Water Sleeves.' It's all "absolutely great." The Spectacular will show next in Las Vegas on Jan. 21, then to Detroit on Jan. 22, and San Francisco from Jan. 23–26.
