As the 2008 Chinese New Year Spectacular graced the stage at Toronto's Sony Centre for one more show on Sunday evening, audience members of all ages continued to heap praise on the unique cultural show.
"We just loved it. It was spectacular, breathtaking, first class. Everything they do is perfection," said Christine Maceivius, who attended the Spectacular with her Chinese daughter, Juliana.
"She's been in Canada for two years; we're bringing some of her culture back," said Maceivius. "She loved the show—all the drumming, the costumes, all of it."
Maceivius said she was surprised that the Spectacular is only in Toronto for five shows. "It should be here for about a month or two months or six months."
Joanne Kilpatrick, a family counselor and life coach who drove from Bracebridge, north of Toronto, to see the Spectacular, said she was most impressed with "the powerful images of eternity and the resurrection."

"It's absolutely wonderful! It's magical it feels like I'm looking into a whole new world. I absolutely love it. You can tell I love Chinese culture already," said Kilpatrick.
"I didn't expect it to be so beautiful and have so much precision, so much detail. I know how hard it is to work in unison and every one of the dancers is beautiful, and to work together so powerfully is absolutely wonderful."
Mike Montazer, an engineer and nuclear consultant, said seeing the Spectacular has motivated him to find out more about the Chinese culture.
"It was perfect. Everything was very well done. It was perfect in all senses. The music, the backdrop, the dancers—everything was so nicely matched together."
Montazer said that while he has Chinese friends and is aware that China has a very rich culture, "I have not seen such a wonderful show before."
"The music was perfect, it was almost a three dimensional sound, and I like the unity of the group. I really enjoyed it a lot and I so happy that I came to see the show. I wish everyone could have come to see this show."
After Toronto, the Spectacular will continue on its world tour, playing in the U.S., Japan, Korea, Paris, Singapore and Australia before heading to Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton in the spring.
