LOS ANGELES—A pleased audience filled the lobby during the intermission of the Saturday evening performance of the Chinese New Year Spectacular at the Nokia Live L.A. theatre on Jan. 19.

"I'm very, very happy," said Caesar from Los Angeles, who works in customer service. "I'm very glad to be here. I used to see these shows when I was a kid in elementary school, along with other ones, and I miss these very much. I'll definitely come and see more of them."

He said he enjoyed the drums the most, "everyone was very good, but the drummers just had you going."

He added, "I can't wait for the second half, and if they have it again I'll come again and recommend it to all my friends."

Martha, a student from Buena Park, thought the show was "Very nice, very intricate, very colorful. Very impressive."

She also said that she liked "the way they [the MCs] explain everything before they perform so we can kind of get more of an idea instead of leaving it to our own imagination."

Many of the dances have rich, cultural meaning, some of which might be missed without some background knowledge.

Josh, a Californian who works in an art studio, described the show as "very peaceful" and "very relaxing."

The Spectacular will be playing its last show in Los Angeles at the Nokia Theater L.A. Live on Sunday, Jan. 20 at 2 p.m., after which it will go on to Las Vegas, Michigan, and San Francisco.
