The Chinese New Year Spectacular on its world tour to showcase Chinese culture through Chinese and western-style music, choreographed dances, and beautiful costumes continued to charm Torontonians for a second day at the Sony Centre For the Performing Arts. "The solo songs were very moving," said orthodontist Richard Marcus who came to see the show along with his fellow colleague and friend Peter Gold.

"There was the translation as the women were singing so they had messages for us, which made them more interesting and the dancing was all very beautifully-coordinated," said Marcus.

Marcus said he found it interesting how elements of Chinese culture were emphasized in the dances.

"You kind of think of classical Chinese philosophy and thought involving many actions from heaven and the heavenly realm, and the relationships between the heavenly realms and earthly realms," said Marcus.

The show struck a note of nostalgia for Jamaican-born Wilbert McIntosh, a retired maintenance worker, who came to see the show with Phelix McIntosh.

"I liked the Mongolian bowl dance, they were pretty good. It kind of brings me back to my culture back in Jamaica where people used to balance the little bowls on their head when going to the market," said Wilbert McIntosh, who also found the hosts very funny.

Phelix McIntosh thought all the dances were very good.

"I just enjoyed it," said McIntosh.

The Spectacular will continue its world tour in the U.S. and other countries before returning to Canada at the end of April. It will play in Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton from April 27 to May 7
