LOS ANGELES—Adults and children alike came to the Nokia Theater L.A. Live in downtown L.A. to experience the beauty and pageantry of the Chinese New Year Spectacular on Jan. 19.
11-year-old Frederica Cue, and her 7-year-old sister, Victoria, from Thousand Oaks, Ca. came on Saturday afternoon with their parents to see the show, as did many families.
Frederica was most taken by the sound of the drums as well as the "pink ladies dancing," referring to the "Water Sleeves" performance. "It was totally awesome," she beamed, adding that she would tell all her friends.
She thinks that it is interesting to study other cultures, because she might want to go there sometime. She had learned a little about China and trade in school.
Their mother heard about the show on the radio and said she "loved it."
The Spectacular will show again tonight at 8 p.m. in the Nokia L.A. Live Theater, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday before going to Las Vegas on Jan. 21, then to Detroit on Jan. 22, and San Francisco from Jan. 23–26.
