"I was so eager to come to see the show so much so that I got the days mixed up", said Edith De Feydeau, 70, as she exited Montreal's Place des Arts of Montreal on Thursday.

Mrs. De Feydeau had just attended the Chinese New Year Spectacular, which played four shows at Théâtre Maisonneuve as part of its world tour.

Mrs. De Feydeau expressed her joy in seeing the beauty of the dancers, saying they looked as though they were perfectly made for the arts.

"The grace, the bounty, it's spectacular! We were transcended to another world, " she said.

The Chinese New Year Spectacular is a production from the Divine Performing Arts Company. The company actually has two distinct groups on tour: one in Canada which will be performing in Toronto from January 18th to January 20th, the other group is traveling the western part of the States.

The company's mission is to revive the authentic Chinese culture expressed through the arts such as dance, song and music.

The Spectacular, which is presented by the New York-based Divine Performing Arts Company, portrays ancient Chinese legends through classical Chinese dance and music with an authenticity that is said to be completely unique in the world today.

This is spurring something of a renaissance of traditional culture in the Chinese art community and is drawing the attention and admiration of audiences around the world.

The company recently began an ambitious world tour that will visit 60 cities on four continents. Thursday's performance was one of 20 shows in Canada.

Divine Performing Arts will play five shows in Toronto on Jan. 18, 19 and 20, as part of its global tour, which includes an 11-day run at New York's famous Radio City Music Hall.

Upon returning to Canada in the spring, the Spectacular will play in Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver. By the end of its tour, it will have played to a total live audience of 650,000 in over 60 cities.

The Epoch Times is a proud sponsor of the Divine Performing Arts shows that will perform in over 60 cities worldwide in 2008. To find a show near you, please visit www.bestchineseshows.com.
