Learning More about Their Chinese Culture Through the 'Spectacular'

Montrealer Daniel Audet was accompanied by his wife and their two children as the whole family attended the premiere of the "Chinese New Year Spectacular" at Montreal's Place des Arts.

"The show is an opportunity to share this culture with our children of Chinese background," said Audet. "It's a wonderful occasion for them to be in contact with their traditional culture."

Audet is president and treasurer of the Association des familles Québec-Asie (AFQA, Association of the Families Quebec-Asia).

"The opening scene particularly interested me. The mixture of costumes, dance, and music was very, very good."

Audet remarked on the importance of showing his children the Chinese traditional culture without the influence of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

"The show gives us the chance to be informed about the CCP and the persecution of Falun Gong," he said. "It's the type of information the CCP filters.

"The Spectacular and The Epoch Times are rare sources of information that allow us to learn about the subject of human rights violations [in China]."

AFQA provides interested parents with relevant information about adoption and promotes the continuity of the links between adopting families. According to Audet, 800 Chinese children have been adopted in Quebec since last year.

The "Chinese New Year Spectacular" was presented by the New York-based Divine Performing Arts Company, which is currently on a global tour with the show. There are three more shows on Jan. 16 and 17 in Montreal, and it will play in Toronto from Jan. 18-20.

The Epoch Times is a proud sponsor of the Divine Performing Arts shows that will perform in over 60 cities worldwide in 2008. To find a show near you, please visit www.bestchineseshows.com.
