"It was nothing like a Las Vegas show, it was a show of a whole other depth. The Spectacular really touched us!" said Nathalie Domond, in the company of her fiancé Éric Douay on the second day of the show's run at the Théâtre Maisonneuve at the Place des Arts in Montreal.

There were two performances of the Chinese New Year Spectacular on Jan. 16, each time playing before a very diverse audience that included a wide range of nationalities and age groups, all sharing a certain curiosity about Chinese culture.

"I found the show very educational," said Ms. Domond. Proud of having learned a few Chinese words, she deems that she was able to learn a bit of Chinese culture through the many different pieces, which were rich in history.

The word "diversity" often came up in remarks by Mr. Douay, president of Dtour Marketing Inc., who said that the blend of traditional and contemporary precisely brought a different aspect to the show. "The show had rhythm and certain scenes were very moving," he said.

Mr. Douay and Ms. Domond, who are patrons of multicultural events, found that the Chinese New Year Spectacular was a show unique in its genre, with an originality all its own. They described the show as an ode to true Chinese culture.
