The Divine Performing Arts company visited Phoenix for only one day with its Chinese New Year Spectacular on Jan. 14, but the impact will last a lifetime. An event of this magnitude, sharing the rich and traditional culture of China was warmly welcomed to the desert landscape.

Alex, a University of Advancing Technology student specializing in digital animation and visual effects told reporters the show was, "very spirited and moving."

Individuals, families, and friends all came to watch the Spectacular .

"The Chinese cultural event at the Dodge Theatre was both a visual and emotional experience. A colorful, fast paced reminder we are part of a global life. I would definitely see this show again," said Brian Welsh, an executive assistant.

"It was a great time for everyone, especially the kids, with all the colors, and dancing and drums," said developer Kristal Doty.

Upon conclusion of the show the theatre staff, with sincerity and joy, summed up their impression of the show with two simple words, "Thank you."

From the positive audience reactions it is clear that Chinese dance and song can harness powerful messages of hope and joy thus uplifting all that watch.
