PHOENIX— The Dodge Theater in downtown Phoenix, Ariz., featured the Desert State's first ever performance of the Chinese New Year Spectacular . The Divine Performing Arts on tour wowed an enthusiastic audience with their outstanding repertoire of classical Chinese dance and song.

Katie Ham, a kindergarten teacher from Tucson, drove over two hours with her mother to see the show. "It's really wonderful. I enjoyed it a lot. It was well worth the trip to see this."

"The Mongolian bowl dance is my favorite. I always like it," said Don Corbet, an airline pilot for US Airways. "Compared to other cultural shows, it is a lot more laid back. You just feel relaxed. I love the Mongolian movements. It's amazing what the dancers can do with their arms."

Collette Tolen, a makeup artist from Tempe, Ariz., said, "I liked the drums the best. They were fantastic!"

Mark Freed, a sales representative born and raised in Phoenix, said, "It's excellent. I enjoyed it very much. It's very soothing. I particularly liked the drumming and the water nymphs dance. It really gave me a good feeling. This show is truly unique. The dancing, the way these performers dance, is very traditional, from a long time ago. Compared to modern dance on TV nowadays, this is more soothing to me. It's very positive. You all have to keep having the show."

Arizona was the latest stop for the performing company's impressive schedule of show dates across the continent, and around the world. The company played in Denver, Colo., last weekend, and to Phoenix on Monday night. Their next stop is San Diego for a four-show engagement at the California Center for the Arts, followed by Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and San Francisco.
