President Bush has conducted a "constructive meeting" with Chinese President Hu Jintao at the Sydney APEC summit, in which he covered a gamut of issues including religious freedom.

The U.S. President said the two had talked about climate change, economic relations, trade, product safety and exchange rates.

"It was constructive because one, we had a lot to talk about, a lot of interests that we want to work together on, and also because he's an easy man to talk to," President Bush said.

Mr Bush said the two leaders had talked about Iran, North Korea and Sudan and that he had raised the issue of religious freedom in China.

"I had a chance to share once again with the President my belief in religious freedom and religious liberty," he said.

President Hu said his meeting with President Bush had been conducted in a "candid and friendly atmosphere."

Hu said they had addressed climate change and the importance of international cooperation on the issue.

Along with the nuclear issues of both the Korean Peninsular and Iran, President Hu said they had also discussed Sudan-Darfur and Taiwan.

"I also briefed the President Bush on the developments in the situation across the Taiwan Straits," President Hu said via a translator.
